This graduate-level course provides a comprehensive exploration of organizational theory through the lens of systems thinking. It is designed to move beyond traditional, static models of organizations to understand them as dynamic, complex, and adaptive systems, in constant interaction with their broader social, cultural, and natural environments.
The central premise of the course is that one cannot fully comprehend the behavior of a modern organization—be it a multinational corporation, a government agency, a hospital, or a social movement—without analyzing the intricate web of feedback loops, interdependencies, and emergent properties that connect it to the world around it.
The aim is to offer students a comprehensive and accurate frame throuygh which they can understand ”an organizations life” and how our conception of "the organization" itself has evolved in line with the evolution of our thinking and understanding of the world.
The core principles upon which the course is build:
· The pursuit of truth to the best of our abilities
